Included in the event will be a Poster Gallery to exhibit the breadth and depth of research and applications of geospatial technologies, Lunch Table Hosts to connect students with practitioners in the field, a variety of short presentations, as well as a keynote lecture on “Designing Useful and Usable GIS and Mapping Technologies.” The Mapathon will take place from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Ramskeller, located in the Lory Student Center on campus. The event is open to the public and attendees should bring their own laptop to participate. The focus of this mapathon will be to use OpenStreetMap to map priority areas in Senegal.
In relation to the Geography Awareness Week 2015, the students from University of Gothenburg Applied IT department together with SKIP (The Association for Informatics and Programming) is hosting a short Mapathon at University of Gothenburg Campus Lindholmen for students with various professional backgrounds (from programming and IT to Geography and Environmental Sciences). The GEOlab (Geomatics and Earth Observation laboratory) of Politecnico di Milano is hosting this mapathon in the frame of the OpenStreetMap Geography Awareness Week. There will be a mapathon hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 21st from 1:00 - 3:00pm to map the Rinjani Volcano region. Volcano Rinjani is a massive active volcano which towers over the island of Lombok in Indonesia. Volcano Rinjani is the second highest mountain in Indonesia at 3,726 meters tall. On October 28, 2015 the Gunung Barujari cone of the volcano erupted. The status of Volcano Rinjani is still a Level II (Alert). This volcano is located in densely populated area and therefore in need of mapping.
Peace Corps and the George Washington University Geography Department will host Girl Scouts Gold Awardees for an OSM mapping party. Girl Scouts will receive an OSM training and actively map for Peace Corps projects while learning about OSM in public policy and careers in tech and GIS.

We are a group of students at Makerere University Jinja Campus who participated in the mapping events with @mapuganda and would like to teach OSM to new members, and also do mapping of places in Jinja that are not mapped: to improve the online OSM map.
